Hi I have just set up my new mini mac and was hoping to transfer my information across from my old Macbook but the assistant doesnt like the age of my macbook and says it requires a higher version of the software - which of course it can not cope with due to the configuration of the Macbook. Any ideas on how i might transfer my documents? Many thanks

Thanks Klaus1 but this confused me even more. I am not so worried about setting etc - i just want to transfer my documents. Did I miss this point in the article?
Can the computers see each other in Finder? If so, can you connect one to the other and copy the files over?
Another option is to copy the files to an external drive, then hook the drive to the Mini and copy them. A USB stick can be used.
How do i transfer between 10.5.8 (old macbook) and 10.9.2 (new mini)?
