I am having to wiggle my battery connector a lot to get the battery charging icon to show. Does this mean that the battery connection is going bad?

Try these
Use a different cable (known to be good).
Clean the docking port with either a can of compressed air, or a soft brush.
It could be a broken wire in the cable. As advised try another cable.
I am using brand new cables, 3 of them and having the same problem with all.
Then the connector inside the device is going bad and things are going to get a lot more expensive
