This is the iPhone forum, not the Mac forum.  You should post questions about your Mac in the Mac forum.

However, to answer your question this time, click on the black Apple logo in the top left corner of your Mac screen, then click on 'About this Mac'.  You'll see your OS version there.

I don't have a black apple on my iPad.

    Where is that forum?

OS refers to Macs.  When you stated '10.5, 10.6', those are Mac OS X version numbers.

What you mean is iOS, because an iPad is an iOS device.  Go to Settings > General > About, and look next to 'Version'.

Are you asking about the OS version or the IOS version?  In your initial post, you ask about OS that would be on your computer. Now you mention about your iPad. The iOS version on your iPad can be found in settings, general, about.
