Apple TV 3 Freezing?

My ATV3 seems unable to stream content from iTunes. We have a satellite internet connection, so we do not use it for streaming content from the net. I bought it in January and it seemed to work great for two months, now it freezes and hangs up all the time. Buffer time is terrible. Often the whole thing will stop in the middle of a show, then it will start back up with the audio about 3 seconds behind. I cannot figure it out.

I have tried resetting everything. I Have played with the network settings, then I thought it could be my external drive, but I tried it with the content directly on the Macbook too. Any help would be much appreciated!

Here is my setup:

Macbook Pro Retina (mid 2012) 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7

Airport Extreme (5th Gen)

Apple TV 3

Sans Digital Towerstor 3TB RAID

Apple Thunderbolt to ethernet adapter

Everything is connected via cat6 cable.

I have tried it plugged in and through wireless. It seems to freeze less through wifi, but takes longer to buffer when it actually works. Sometimes it won’t load content no matter how long we wait, plugged in or not.
