Question about buying more ram.

IN order for me to upgrade to Mavericks i need 2GB ram, i have 1GB , so need to buy 1GB more to put in the other memory slot.Where can i buy it? It

does'nt look like it's possible to buy it from the Apple Store. All suggestions would be very welcome. Thanks from Jonathan.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Although the specs say 2gb of RAM is required to run Mavericks, user experience seems to indicate that any less than 4gb and Mavericks will be a slow performer.
