My ipad screen has gone black and I don't know what to do the screen still works and I can still unlock it and I can still type. But I don't know what to do can anyone help me it will be much appreciated
Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. See if you can force a reboot. If you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and see if your screen comes back.

If the reset doesn't do it then it's possible that the backlight or another part of your screen has broken. Unfortunately it's not really user servicible. I'd make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. If your device is still under warranty and they don't determine that the damage was the result of 'abuse or neglect' (their words) then it could be a free replacement.
I'd just do a backup before you take it in, just in case.
