Issues with guest network and dhcp config. HELP!

Hello everyone!

I have some issues with my AirPort Extreme, I think I have done everything properly but I can't make it to work right.

First I have issues with Guest Network, Apple devices can't connect and devices with android for example show a warning wich says "can't get IP address". And never connect. What can I do?

On the other hand I can't connect to the router with pppoe so I have used dhcp, and all the devices which appears on the connected list show their ip o I think is its MAC address but not their name, what can I do to know which devices are connected?

Thank you.

Guest wireless only works if the AE is the main router in the network. It will not work if the AE is bridged, although it is tricky and looks like it is allowing you to set it up.

This is also fairly standard.

Sometimes it can show names.. I think it will only do that if the AE is the main network router and is passing out dhcp addresses whereas in bridge it is merely linking wireless through to the main router.

Here is mine.

The only way I know to find out what MAC address belongs to what.. is

1. Look on your main router for the ARP table or DHCP table.. this might have the info.

2. Turn everything off. Restart the main modem and the AE. (2min gap for each).

Then start your clients one by one.. and as each comes up, take note of its MAC address. Then create your own database of devices in your house.

3. The laborious way is to go around and find the MAC address of everything directly from the device.

eg your computer will show its MAC address in the network preference.

4. There is a very powerful tool in your Network utilities.. netstat scan.

It will give you a table of some of the info you need.
