We need more information to be able to help.
Things that we do not know:
What is the model number of AirPort Express?
Not sure....look on the side of the AirPort Express. The model number starts with an "A" followed by four numbers. Example.....A1264, A1084.
What operating system are you using on your computer?
Not sure if you have a Mac.....click the Apple icon in the upper left corner of the screen. Click About This Mac and post back with the OS X Version number that you see there.
What is the networking goal for the AirPort Express on the network? In other words.....what was it doing when it was working before?

A1264
My MAC is OS X Lion 10.7.5
Thanks,
Thanks, and what is your goal for the A1264 Express? What do you want it to do? What service will it perform on the network?
Trying to expand wifi to other areas of my home where signal is weak or not at all
Temporarily, locate the A1264 Express in the same room as the other Express.
Power up the A1264 for a full minute
Then, hold in the reset button on the Express for 10 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the Express to restart
The A1264 will be slowly blinking amber at this time
On your Mac.....open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on Other WiFi Devices
Click on AirPort Express
The utility will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network, then suggest that the A1264 will extend the other AirPort Express network
Type in a simple name that you want to call the A1264 Express and click Next
The utility will set things up for you. When you see the message of Setup Complete, click Done
Now move the A1264 Express to a location that is no more than half way between the "main" Express and the general area that needs more wireless coverage and power up the A1264.
The more that you have line of sight between the AirPorts, the better the network will operate.
Unfortunately, this didn't work. I followed the instruction, but when I came to: MAC HD>Applicaions>Utilities>AIrport Utility and clicked on Other Wifi Devices the Express that was showing up on this screen in amber(all others in green) disappeared and now I show internet-base-express(the one that was already working)
Possibly, a defective AirPort Express, but we can keep trying.
Are you using Mavericks on the Mac by chance? Do you have an iPhone or iPad handy?
tried the ipad. I'll try the iphone now
On the iPad or iPhone......
Tap Settings
Tap WiFi
Under the heading of Setup a New AirPort Base Station
Tap AirPort Express
If that does not work, the Express is very likely defective and will need to be replaced. 4-5 years is about average for the A1264.
still a no go. must be bad
It has been 4-5 years. Thanks for your help. I'll get a new one.
Happy Easter!
He has risen!!!!!!
I just went back into the room to tell my wife that we'd need to get another one and the old express was GREEN. It's working, PTL!!!
Thanks again.
