I have an iphone 5 with iOS 7 and as you can see beside the clock on the left side, there is a spinner, indicating something is running. I have closed all the applications. Not sure what's running??

Due to the manual the circle means "Network activity": Shows that there’s network activity. Some third-party apps may also use it to show an active process.
