FaceTime suddenly stopped connecting to people I called last week. How can I fix this?

I have an IPad 2. FaceTime was working perfectly until last Saturday. Now it fails to connect with incoming as well as dialed email addresses or phone numbers, even with saved contact details. How can I fix this?
