Maximum onboard audio bit-rate output for iPad Air?

Does anyone know the exact maximum ONBOARD audio bit-rate output for the iPad Air? I'd been given the impression by one app maker that it's 24bit / 48kHz, however, I can't seem to get confirmation if this is true, or if it's the same as past models: 16bit / 48kHz.
