Apr 21, 2014 2:24 PM in response to Etsere123by bobseufert,The only way I could find was to tap the mic again or try a dictation app like Dragon Dictation.

Apr 22, 2014 11:02 AM in response to bobseufertby Etsere123,Dragon dictation also only allows about 40 seconds of dictation before it automatically closes and writes your recording into text. Since registering this query I contacted Apple tech support and they informed me that 40 seconds is about all you can get. The technician however suggested that I contact the feedback section of Apple and make the suggestion for a longer dictation period be allowed. Many thanks for your help.
