I updated firmware to no end.
To play Blu-ray movies, you need a Blu-Ray drive and Blu-Ray software, such as:
I have trial version of Aieesoft DVD Creator for Mac and Toast Titianium, I would think MAC OSX Maverick would at least mount the image as Disk FileAide sees the disk and reads the name, I will look into this.
Update this did not work either so I am back to square one.
I hate to go out an buy a powered USB hub defeats the purpose of buying this and since I can burn and read data BD-R discs I doubt it is that nor the cable.
I hooked up the drive to a Windows (hate to admit it) laptop and using Aurora Free Player it worked fine. Sorry to say this appears to be an Apple problem.
One generally plays a movie DVD or BD, not mount it. The DVD/BD writing programs are not generally players. Did you try a player program like the one at the link Malcolm supplied?
Yes and I did not see any disc in the open dialog box.
You are using the "Open Disc" button in Mac Pro Blu-ray Player, right? A movie disc won't show up with "Open File" because it is not mounted as a standard file system volume.
Yes sir.. when I insert the disk you hear a bunch of head movement and then a fast spin then nothing. When you select open disc it directs you to open folder..
Without knowing any more about the player program that I could find in a quick skim of the online user manual, I would guess that it is really not seeing the disc. You should talk to user support for the player program. Maybe it doesn't support this model BD drive.
You say that you have Toast Titanium burning BD-R data disks from this Mac? Was it cabled that same way when you tried the BD player?
Does the drive play DVD movies (with Apple's DVD Player, or VLC)?
Also try MakeMKV
(Don't forget to install DASPI that is included.)
Yes the drive recognizes everything but commercial blu-ray discs
Apple's DVD player can't play Blu-ray. I'm afraid you have to install Macgo Mac Blu-ray Player, the only legal Blu-ray player on Mac for now.
Yes if you purchase a Blu-Ray optical drive and purchase Blu-Ray software.
