I've just installed Mac OS X Snow Leopard, version 10.6.8 and am getting Pop up Blocked messages even though it is not marked in my Safari version 10.6.8 and am getting 'Popup Blocked' messages when trying to access videos. This even though I don't have

I've just installed Mac OS X Snow Leopard, version 10.6.8; I've updated my system and now cannot access videos. I receive messages; Popup Blocked.

This is even though I have not checked 'Block Popups' in the Safari menu. How can I access web videos again? I've tried installing the updated Adobe Flash Player, but I get the message "Blocked Plug IN"

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Model A1226

I picked the DMG installer for Mac OS X and tried downloading the latest Flash Player; but received again on Step 3 of 3 Blocked Plug In. I show alot of downloads for Flash Player, should I be placong these in trash?

There shouldn't be any "steps" if you've downloaded and run the DMG installer because it's a complete installer and either runs or doesn't in my experience. I've run into the Step 3 failure myself but only when the download and installation is being done through Adobe's Get Flash Player website, which using the DMG file avoids. You do need to have all browsers and System Preferences closed when you run it though. And you can delete all the other Flash downloads.

I've trashed all downloads except these:

file://localhost/Users/davidrussell/Downloads/install_flash_player_13_osx.dmg

file://localhost/Users/davidrussell/Downloads/install_flash_player_osx.dmg

I clicked on the OS X installer then on the Flash Player download on the same webpage.

Step 1 and 2 okay, but Step 3 shows Blocked Plug In.

No other browsers were open.

Any other recommendations?

Thanks for your help.

Yes. The "install_flash_player_osx.dmg" is meant for System Administrators dealing with multiple computer installations. The "install_flash_player_13_osx.dmg" is meant for people like us with just one Mac at a time, so it sounds like the "steps" were coming from the System Administrator setup.

Using just the install_flash_player_13_osx.dmg, double-click on that, then run Install Adobe Flash Player.app and see what happens.
