Q: Connecting iOS Keynote to MacBook Keynote for Remote

I'm trying to use my iOS Keynote app as a remote for my MacBook Keynote

The instructions for Using Keynote Remote, specifically "Linking Keynote Remote to your Mac", are very straightforward, however, while my iPhone is waiting for my MacBook to respond, my MacBook never "finds" the iPhone, and thus never makes the connection.

Some facts:

  • iPhone is iPhone 5
  • iOS is version 7.1
  • Keynote on iOS is 2.2
  • I am *not* using "Keynote Remote" app (discontinued and pulled from App Store)
  • MacBook is MacBook pro, mid-2012 (not the Retina version)
  • Keynote on MacBook is 6.2
  • OSX on MacBook is 10.9.2
  • Both devices are on the same wifi network

Is there something I'm missing? Or some kind of "gotcha" or known issue with my attempted versions?

Any insight would most certainly be useful.

Thank you in advance.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Did you go into Mac Keynote preferences and enable remotes?

Did you confirm the enable code was correct?

Did you tap the remote button in Keynote on the iPhone to go into control mode?

    Try this first

    1. Turn on hotspot sharing in your iPhone

    2. Link your Mac to your phone's hotspot

    3. Then enable remote in your Mac keynote

    4. Add device in your iPhone keynote remote control

    5. Waiting for the code send from your phone then link them.

If you follow the process above and the remote works that mean this system works then you have to check your wifi accessibility.
