RAM is not the same as space on the hard drive. Your Mac likely only has 1 GB of RAM installed. You'll need to add more physical RAM. Crucial or Other World Computing are two very good vendors. I'd put in a minimum of 4 GB.

I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They also have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM.
