Guitar track no sound from external guitar

I'm a new Logic Pro X user and I am trying to hook my guitar up to the program.

1. Operating System: Maverick
2. Tested the cable and it is working fine
3. My guitar is plugged into a M-Audio Fast Track Pro
4. My M-Audio is plugged into the earphone jack
5. I chose Bus 2 for my input
6. The INPUT MONITORING button is on and highlighted orange

I still can't get any audio

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
