Apr 22, 2014 1:42 PM in response to Brett77by randers4,Are you sure it's an iCloud ID and not just an Apple ID? You can check by going to icloud.com from a computer and trying to sign in with the ID.

Apr 22, 2014 2:00 PM in response to Brett77by Brett77 ,Yes 100% do I need to sign out of my icloud account?

Apr 22, 2014 2:02 PM in response to Brett77by randers4,In order to track his phone, you must enter his iCloud account in the Find My iPhone app, not yours. The app only displays devices using the iCloud account it is sign into.
If the app is repofting that his Apple ID is not an iCloud ID, he may be entering the wrong ID. The way to check is to use a computer and try to sign in with the ID at icloud.com. If it won't sign in, then the ID is not and iCloud ID.
