can I get a better quality song on iTunes match?

I thought the whole point of itunes match was if you lost a song or had a problem, the one from the itunes library would over write it and you'd get it back. how do I do this if in fact itunes match is capable?

No, that is not the point of iTunes Match. The "point" of iTunes Match is to mirror your iTunes library "in the cloud" so you can have access to it from almost anywhere on all your devices. A secondary "point" is that the service will allow you upgrade tracks that "match" to AAC @ 256 Kbps DRM-free tracks from the iTunes Store (not all eligible tracks will "match." Some will be "uploaded"). iTunes Match is not a backup service and should not be relied on to be one. It is your responsiblitiy to backup your personal data, including music.
