Recently I have been having Podcasts crash on me 10-15 seconds into one, I have talked to support and the only fix is to get it repaired. Is anyone else having or had this problem?

Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.
Restore from backup. See:
Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
