I am having the same problem with Direct TV. This was their response to my inquiry as to why there is still locked content even after unlocking that said content:
"Hello,
We are now supporting Apple TV. Please update your Apple TV to view the A&E, HISTORY and Lifetime watch apps. Once your Apple TV is updated, Lifetime, HISTORY and A&E apps will appear on your Apple TV.
We already enable many subscribers to log in to the app including Cablevision (Optimum), DirecTV and Verizon(Fios) as Cable Providers as well as many other providers. Please sign into the application to view all of the videos. You will receive a code from the application, and will enter this code into a URL in your browser. You don't have to log in to use the A&E, HISTORY and Lifetime apps. Although logging in gives you access to additional content, even regular viewers will find tons of full episodes and exclusive clips to stream. Thank you for contacting Watch App Support."
This was my reply to their less that helpful, and hopeful response:
"Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. However I have followed the instructions you included in your reply and there is still no change in what is "locked" and "unlocked" in terms of content on my Apple TV. For example, In the History Channel App for the Apple TV, when trying to watch an episode of "Pawn Stars" every single episode of season 11 is "locked" on the Apple TV, and therefore blocked from watching. Whereas on the History Channel App for my iPad all of season 11 of "Pawn Stars" is "unlocked" and I am able to watch them. I also run into similar "locked" content in the A&E App and the Lifetime App.
When trying to "unlock" these "locked" content I am prompted to go the respected web sites for The History Channel, A&E, and Lifetime, and enter a code that is given to me on the Apple TV. Every time when I am finished I am "congratulated" for my "success" and I am toke to enjoy watching content from these channels. But that is my dilemma, nothing has changed or been "unlocked", and I am still unable to view certain content from these Apps for enjoyment on my Apple TV."
In my honest opinion, either A and E Networks has no idea there is a problem, or they just don't care and are hoping subscribers will just give up and live with whatever content is available.
