find serial number from air capsule backup

Hey guys,

My iMac has been recently stolen. I completely forgot to write down the serial number, so I can't find it in my receive, even Apple Support can't find any record in in their system in order to find out the serial number. I really need it since the police detected a connection the day after the iMac was stolen. I can see it in my iCloud (as disconnected)

So I am kind of disperated, my last opportunity is by searching it in my Air Capsule backups, but there are a lot of files there though.

The question is, Does the AirTime backup system store the serial number? if so, where it does?

thanks for your time,

josemiguel

Seeing as no one else as suggested a solution you may want to think about this. Did you do your time machine backups over the network, I.e. Ethernet or WiFi?

If you did a plist file would have been made that included the Ethernet MAC address of your iMac, this allows TM to identify which machine it is backing up. If this plist file is on your TM backup you will have some form of iD for your iMac.

See this post for the location of the plist file.

This site as lots of info on TM, you may find another answer there.
