Aperture folders,projects no longer appear.

Hi,

A few weeks ago i tried to upload some pictures and i think some videos to aperture as per normal and since then i cannot get my pictures, all my organised folders, projects etc. When i tried to open aperture it said there were inconsistances and needed to repair and now i can't get any of them back. Its been very upsetting and frustrating as alot of work has gone in to organise them and to tag them.

I have today managed to get them into iphoto by going into the pictures folder and trying to open both the iphoto library and the aperture library through iphoto and they seem to be there (although i have 116gb of photos so i can't tell) but the photos in iphoto are all jumbled up so its almost impossible to tell. Its so frustrating. Please help!!!!

I'm running aperture 3:4:3

I've a late 2008 macbook OSX lion 10.7.5

Many thanks in advance

Tom

Thanks cdr_dave

So I repaired my aperture library but while there I noticed I have two library's, one for iPhoto which has 116gb and one for aperture which is 56 gb. I can open them both with the "open with" option in either aperture or iPhoto however I still have no original folders or metadata jus all my pictures. The two separate libraries also contain some pictures in one and not another. Where has all the organisation I spent hours on gone?!

What exacly did you do when you opened the libraries in iPhoto? Did you import the Aperture library into iPhoto? That would create a mess and remove the metadata tags and folders or albums. Or did you launch iPhoto with the alt/oprions key held down and select the Aperture library to open? That should show you the Aperture library correctly.

Hi leonie,

thanks for your reply, you do seem like the oracle on these things.

I didn't import anything to iphoto or aperture when it stopped working. To get me to just see the pics i went to my user/pictures/ then double clicked to open the library while pressing alt/option which allowed me to repair the datatbase. Because aperture wasn't opening by just opening the app i went into my user/pictures again and right clicked the iphoto library (the biggest one) and chose 'open with' aperture which worked as in i can see all my pictures in aperture but none of my tags, data, projects etc are there.

Thanks Leonie
