"say" command - exclamation or emphases?

I've got a little script that grabs weather information from TWN in Canada and speaks out the weather, but I can't seem to get Daniel to add any inflection or emphases when I use a ! or ? at the end of a sentense. He just speaks every sentense as if it ended in a period. I don't think this always used to be the way.

Is there any code I can add to make the voice add emphasis for then the sentense ends in a ! or make it sound like a question when it ends in ?

The original voices can be customized a little by using embedded commands (see the Speech Synthesis Programming Guide), but the more modern and extra voices don't respond to much more than changes in the speech rate.

That's pretty lame. I guess my script will just have to continue swearing in a more monotone voice.

Did you try using the special symbolisms in the Guide that red_menace linked too with the Daniel voice, or perhaps, your favorite weather girl voice?

say "Today's weather will be [[emph +]] sunny![[emph +]] and [[emph +]]warm.[[emph +]]"

It depends on the voice, but extra or downloaded voices tend to ignore those. The commands work with the regular voices that have been around for a while, though.
