My footage from my Canon Vixia is not importing into FCP!! AHHH - I tried with FCP 7 the same way I always do... but it's not working this time. But I also have X, and nothing is importing with that either. Please help!
Need more information besides it doesn't work. Which Vixia? What format? What computer? What drives? How is everything connected? What exactly happens and what exactly do you see when you press the import button?
I am using the Vixia HF G20 I usually just upen up FCP 7, connect the camera with the USB and open up Log&Transfer - and my clips just automatically start adding to the que. However this morning it didnt do that... in fact nothing happened. I tried to open up the Canon folder and drag over the AVCHD folder - and iot kept telling me there were unsupported files in the folder and it wouldn't let me import anything.
So, not sure where I went wrong on this one... because it usually works seemlessly... any advice?

So what happens there? What do you see when you open the import window? I assume you're shooting AVCHD.
So FCP X is open - and I go to import - import from camera - and while the camera is connected and it shows up as a device in my dock... It's not showing my Vixia as a camera I can import from, then I try to go straight to the AVCHD folder in finder to drag the files over into FCP.... but the AVCHD is grayed out in finder... The other folders - DCIM, CVINFO are not grayed out -

This is a hard drive and your media is on the hard drive not a card? Are there multiple formats on the drive? Different things besides AVCHD media?
Yes. All the footage is on the internal memory of the camera that I am trying to get footage from. But there are also a good number of jpg files on it...
There's probably some content that is making the application appear as a hard drive and not a camera drive. Maybe you could post a screen shot of what you see on the camera drive in the Finder.

I suspect it's the picture and music folders that are causing the problem. You might trying copying the AVCHD bundle to your hard drive and see if you can access it from FCP.
