renting movies from Itunes

I rented a movie from iTunes. When it finished downloading it announced it was ready to watch and prompted me to start the movie and thus my 24 hour rental time. I played it, but to my surprise the movie was not downloaded. iTunes reports that there is still 9 hours before the movie will be downloaded. Any suggestions to save my Family Movie Night?
