facetime not connecting

I am using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5

I am unable to use Face Time. I connected a Rocketfish webcam. I can use the camera on Skype, but not on Face Time. Everytime I attempt to connect, I get an error message: Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again.

I even tried registering Face Time under a new acount and the error continues to appear.

I am able to login to iTunes, iCloud, and even my Apple account online with my Mac Account, yet Face Time continuously repeats the same error message.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there a resolution to this issue?

If you are not able to connect to FaceTime, first make sure you have the latest security updates on your Mac by choosing Software Update from the Apple () menu. For more information, see these articles:
