eBook for iPad 1

Since Apple "does not make specific recommendations related to the App Store" and many attempts at different eBook solutions all result in requiring an iOS higher than the installed 5.1.1 (9B206), what is the specific solution (other than being confronted with the "was not installed because it requires a newer version of iPad software" to reading eBooks on the iPad 1? What eBook solution are others utilizing who currently have an iPad Generation 1 device?

iPad, iOS 5.1.1

You are not following the instructions above. I just tested it with both the Kobu and Bluefire Reader and it worked perfectly. The same should go for Kindle and iBooks. It's no good downloading it directly to your iPad. They must be downloaded on to your computer through the iTunes store first. When they have downloaded onto your computer, open your iPad, go to the Purchased section of the App Store and download them. You will be prompted to download an older version.

Thank you...see the various "downloaded" eBook applications listed utilizing iTunes v11.1.5.5 on the computer, correspondingly on the iPad the "Purchased" icon which is displayed at/along the bottom, will attempt this process as you've outlined when physically connected to the App Store tomorrow. Cheers

Picas, thank you again for your advice and process to install these APPS. Success this morning installing Evernote, Kindle and iBooks (plus first viewed book, "100 Photographs That Changed The World.") Navigating the sometimes quirky techniques/modes of Apple was made a bit luminous with your assistance. Cheers.
