Q: i wanted to update my iphone 4s to latest version and it failed. now when i plug it in it sees the phone and tells me that its in recovery mode and tells me to recover it but few minutes in it fails with "unknown error"

help me to restore my phone

Can you post the entire error message?

Have you tried putting it in DFU mode (Google it) and restoring it?

Have this iPhone ever been jailbroken, had the OS rolled back, or run an unauthorized version of iOS?

Has this computer been used with a phone that was jailbroken?

I dont have any jailbroken phones and to my knowledge it wasnt jailbroken. not at the time I had it nor when iwas upgrading it. it worked fine for me for a long while i updated it beforejust fine too. not this time thow. I did backed it up prior updating it so im safe with all my pics and all.
