Just updated, now most of remote buttons not working

I just updated. Now the only buttons that work on the remote are the menu key. The response light blinks and registers that there was a signal, but nothing happens.

If it's an appleTV remote... press and hold Menu + Back button for 7sec to unpair...

Thanks that worked. The 5 seconds was too short I guess! I think I also need a new battery, but the other issue is the iPad control stopped working with its directionals. Any ideas on that one?

Yes. So on the iPad (not sure if you know) you just swipe left, right, up, down, etc to move around in the Apple TV's UI. None of them are working, besides the menu "button".
