Q: Wanting To Remove User Permissions Replace with Groups Except for...

...at the very lowest level.

Hello all, I am working with a OS X Server 2.2.2.2 ML.

My goes is to remove about 15 users that have all been individually given full access to a volume, and replace them with a group. The problem is that at the lowest level of the file system each individual file needs to maintain ownership from the user it belongs to (not any of the 15 users I would like to remove).

The file structure I am working with begins with a mounted volume containing folders, which contain folders down about 2 more layers for organization by region and time. At the lowest level the folders are owned by specific users to upload files via filesharing.

What is the best way to go about removing the desired user permissions down the file structure, without removing the lowest ones I would like to keep?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)
