lost global inbox for Mail (inbox tray icons?)

i have had to add five accounts to my mail (i did this in Settings Mail Contacts and Calendars) and they came up with little "inbox trays" as icons instead of the icons that i think i am used to which are shown in the screenshot below the new accounts.

this has also had the effect of my not seeing a "Global Inbox" for my Mac Mail which is the primary way i access my mail. since i have about fifteen accounts it is going to be almost impossible for me to click on each account and then go to the inbox of each account to check for mail.

i went ahead and DELETED the new accounts and this did not fix it. i also went ahead and re-added the accounts and they came up again as you see below.

i saw one post on this which was not exactly the same and the user was on POP whereas all my accounts are on IMAP.

i do obviously still get the global inbox in mac mail on my computers but this issue makes it almost impossible for me to check mail when away from the computer.

any advice or ideas that will help me avoid making an appointment at the genius bar?

THANK YOU

Hello hotwheels 22,

Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with Mail on your iPhone.

I recommend following these steps and checking for the Global Inbox after each step (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing and any other steps you may have taken):

  1. If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
  2. If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
  3. If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
  4. If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
    1. If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
    2. Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
    3. If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
    4. If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
  5. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
    1. Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
    2. If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
    3. If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
  6. If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.

If you get to step 5, I recommend backing up your iPhone before performing the restore:

ok. so i found an answer for this one.

apparently iOS7 has a tendency to reset your mail settings that are within mail. so even if you used to see these items you may not see them anymore. in order to get these back Open Mail, click on Edit in the top right corner, then /check/ the items that you want seen on the mail homescreen. i just check everything. this then gives you a global inbox, accountt hat go directly tot he account inbox, access to global send folder etcetera.

apparently it is an issue they see at the genius bar here in town.

big thanks to all.
