Superdrive - Any Advantages?
Does the Apple USB Superdrive have any advantages over other more inexpensive external CD/DVD drives?

Not that I know of.
My desktop LG GE24LU20 takes up more space and is not as nice looking, but....
it was cheaper than the portable Superdrive
it is faster and more reliable than a portable Superdrive
it never skips the last track when I import CDs into iTunes like a Superdrive
it never spits out a DVD or CD because of a read error like a lot of Superdrives do
it never lets me down, when I need to boot older iMac's from their OS X Install disc's
it never lets me down, when I needed to install software that is on a third party disc's
it never lets me down watching DVDs, it is smoother and quieter than any Superdrive
Also, without some hacking it is not comnpatible with the earlier Mnis
System Requirements

None for the user - it is certainly to Apple'$ advantage that you buy the $uperDrive. I bought an inexpensive (under $30) LG tray loader shortly after getting my MacBook Air three years ago and I like it enough that I chose to get another when my employer gave me a mini this fall.
I have used Super Drive and another brand. The only difference is that the disc eject button on the keyborad only works with Apple Super Drive.
I know. There are several methods to eject the CD. I was just noting that the mechanical button would not work.
