Q: Stuck when uploading an update

I uploaded an EPUB some weeks ago using iTunes Producer. I got a ticket for a minor issue (I needed to manually upload a free excerpt of the book) and everytime I try to upload the update including this, I always get the same error message:

Captura de pantalla 2014-04-25 a la(s) 11.12.54.png

That of course means nothing. No details about what could be happening. Anyone has experienced this before? Apple is not helping much at this point... it asked me about the language of my Mac OS, but nothing else...

Thanks.

everytime I try to upload the update including this, I always get the same error message:

You uploaded the Book - but no sampe/Preview as required - got a ticket to upload teh sample/preview version.

You mention "update" - asr you saying you changed something in teh  book itself - if not its still Ver 1.0

When  delivering using iTunes Producer - use the  same   information given in the  97829700933404.itmsp file

If / when iTP  asking is this a new book or an update... select NEW BOOK, which it  is because it has not been published into the store - its "work in progrtess" with the review team.   Uploading both book and sample updates their files.  IF you have changed to Ver1.1 - then  iTC will be looking for  what  changes you made!!

Just add Minor test edits corrections.

Language?    Did you identify Engllish as the language of your book?

The book was never published, as I got the ticket once it was reviewed by Apple for the first time.

So I am uploading the 1.0 version of my book, this time adding the sample/Preview that lacked before.

I am opening the same iTP package, by means of choosing "Open existing...". I am not beginning the process from the scratch, to avoid "duplicates" as I think you mentioned in another thread.

I am filling the form field mentioning that I added the Preview Sample in my update, so no form field is missing.

I identified English as the language of my book, but I am running Mac OS X in spanish, is that remarkable?

    Thanks for your interest!

So I understand that I may create a *new* iTunes Producer package using the same information from current package then, instead of re-opening the existing one? Would that work?

Its not advisable to start a new delivery - because    you will always have the first version showing in iTunesConnect and showing the ticket in your Ticket History.  Once delivered no book can ever be deleted, it remains on file with Apple.

I have searched the group and this issue - Langauge - does not seem to be a problem.

How did you create your sample version?

Most simply duplicate the  book and delete everything except one chapter or  leave the structure in place and delete pages from the  variuos chapers and section to leave 16 page as required.

While it appears the sample version is the cause of your failure to upload - it may not be!

If you are sure all is OK - then  try again to deliver your book. If it fails again you  have the  ooption to cobtact support from iTunesConnect and  pass the problem to them.

You have to decide if you want to take this path taking into considration that the first upload is there and cannot be removed - AND if the book fails again, you still have the problem to resolve.

How many times have you tried to  re-delivery the  full package?

I created my sample as you mentioned. I removed pages, content, updated content.opf file so I got a smaller version of my book, that pass Epubcheck as an standalone book itself.
This amount of 16 pages is the minimum required or has to be exactly 16?

My problem is that I am getting an error message that means nothing, there is no way to get to know where error comes from. I tried to submit it dozens of times, always the same.

Of course I submitted error to Apple but I had no reply so far.

That's why I am ending up here, I am lacking of any other type of help.

OK I re-made the whole sample EPUB.

Now I get a different error message that still helps almost nothing:

"The calculated MD5 checksum of c6ff685d2c9c34ae79a7ff54004b9a23 for the local file ...."

    (for my sample epub only)

Why don't they translate such this stuff into human language? I'm clueless...

Are you re-uploading both book files - or just the sample?    I know the original upload seems to be OK.. but I  think the  actual iTP delivery process checks for all the files.... book, sample, images etc,.

As you say...  advising a bunch of numbers means nothing  and as yet.. nobody seems to have a check list of what the error codes relate to.

If you are uploading everythin each time... I suggest you contact support and ask them to  help.

Open iTunesConnect > Manage your Books >  your book file which should  show as under review if so use the contact  us and fill in the books details.

OK, finally managed to solve it.

Only by changing the name of both EPUB files to match exactly the Title of the Book (and adding a " SAMPLE" to the sample file) worked out.

Thanks a lot to this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/24903993#24903993

Thanks a lot to you vinnyvg for your interest. I wish Apple would make this tools and process more human just like other Apple software. Now this is like solving a glyph or an adventure game...
