Middle Mouse Button on NON Apple Mouse

My friend has Mavericks on her iMac and uses Maya a 3D Program, which requires a middle mouse button, so the Magic Mouse and Track Pad are not options for her. The Mighty Mice are known to stick and such so she has a regular Mouse. But for whatever reason her middle mouse button keeps activating the mission control stuff. She went into Systme Preferenes>Mouse and set the Middle Button to Button 3, then she went into Mission Control and turned off everthing, and even plugged in a Mighty Mouse and set the Middle Button to Button 3. But it still gives her Mission Control.

Is there something else that she need to do?

I have Snow Leopard so I couldn't be of much help. For me I would just turn off Spaces and Exposé, but im pretty sure that Mission Control is the new equivalent.

What make and model mouse is this?

If a mouse from another maker, have you tried going to the device maker's website and check to see if they have the latest drivers and/or mouse software for OS X Mavericks that can be downloaded and installed?

All the different USB input device makers usually have software or drivers or a special system preferences panel that needs to be installed that is used to control the behaviour of the mouse.

It is Logitech ex100 and I checked the site, they do not make drivers for Mac. My mouse is an Amazon Prime Mouse and it doesn't have any drivers either but on my computer it works fine and I have Snow Leopard, so I figure it has to be a Mavericks thing.

That maybe your problem.

You using a mouse that is NOT Mac compatible. It will work for basic functionality, but will not be able to assign the mouse buttons to the specific functions you need it to do.

Both Logitech and Microsoft make mice that work specifically with the Mac, but not all their mice products are Mac compatible.

Many USB devices that have no Mac driver can be made to do what you want with USB Overdrive software, which is sort of a universal Mac device driver for USB input devices. You might try it.

Even though you've marked this as solved, there's a better solution. Remove the Logitech drivers altogether and install Steermouse. I used to have no end of trouble with Logitech mice, all because of their notoriously buggy drivers, even though their hardware works wonderfully. Once I installed Steermouse, all of the problems stopped. It will also let you assign application-specific bindings, so you can easily assign *any* button as a middle-button-click for Maya.
