Q: Microphone not working on front facing camera?????!!!!??

non of the camras has mics in them

it use the mic in the buttom of the device you can see where here

don't block it with your hands

Reboot the phone.  I had the same problem.

Check the type of cover you are using on the phone

If you are not using a cover, go to the end of this letter

If you are using a book style cover, keep reading.  If not go to the end of the letter

If you are folding it back and covering the new microphone, don't do that.

Reboot the phone.

This is NOT a blocked microphone issue. This is a FLAW in the product. Too many people (inclding myself) are having this issue. Only 10 minutes spent on the forums will show this consistant flaw. Apple needs to figure out what is happening and offer us a real solution. Since I have discovered this issue, I have had many recordings ruined, inclding taking my 2 year old son on his first slide, his first kiddie-coaster, and the first time he has helped me squeeze fresh orange juice. Apple consistantly ignores design flaws and it's gettng old.

Apple guys here in Basingstoke UK had not seen this issue before, but I see by the forum its quite common.

They wanted me to pay £190 to replace the mic,  and didn't seem interested in why this is happening, they just tried to reboot it "like I hadn't tried that already"

I wonder if its software or hardware, the later would be worse, however... don't wanna wipe my phone and set up as new either!!!!

Each camara has a mic. The back camara has it beside the camera, You can see the lil hole. And the from camara has it where the speaker is, when you are talking on the phone. the speaker below the camera.

Having the same issue with the front mic. Skype, recording, siri etc.not working. I thought it was a HW failure so I replaced the front mic (mic,camera, light sensor), but it still doesn't work. So it must be ios issue, because more apps are having the same problem.

I am glad to see I am not the only one! I got my phone, new, in April, then over the last couple months the back microphone stopped working while recording and recall after reading this that Siri doesn't work either. I'm thinking it must be due to an IOS update too as it was fine beforehand. Thankfully, I'm still hnder warranty. It seems like it's a clear issue so Apple should do something for all affected.
