Numbers used to add contact details automatically in fields when I dragged a contact from address book into a table. I want that back STAT
Now it acts very strange and says image. I can retype everything for all my class details. C'mon guys!

There are a couple of things you should do Stat yourself. First, update the OS version in your profile and second, send Feedback to Apple via the Numbers > Submit Numbers Feedback menu.
The Discussions participants here have no more influence than you do on when or if something like the merge feature will be brought back.

On my machine contact details import as expected but the column headers are misaligned unless there as image in the contact. I reported this bug a while back. It might not hurt for others to report the bug too if they haven't already.
