is IOS7.1 above has this problem, IOS6 is no problem on this. my computer is using microsoft exchange 2007. just example: staff A using outlook 2010 attech the file send staff B and C, Staff A is using IOS cannot read the attech file, staff B is using IOS6 is no problem for this.
It's or similiar to the issue with Microsoft exchange and IOS 7.1.x. This problem showed up in 7.1. See work-arounds listed here:

Use dropbox instead.
Resend the files to a gmail account and download from gmail. I have not read of any problems using a gmail account. Other than once the files touches an ipad, it may become corrupted. You need to send the file from the source to your gmail account.

Have you tried turnning your computer off and on again?
Hi everybody, all what you have to do is to hook your device to the power and the file will open. I know it's to good to be true but tray it because I wes seafaring for along time from the same problem and the same Ms Word file attachment that could not open suddenly opened whin I've connected my iPad to the power.
I also have the same problem. I always used to be able to open them without a problem - AlKindyb what use is an ipad if you have to always hook up to power I use my ipad for work and need to be mobile. This is a recent problem and so fustrating.

I far as I know, this problem has not been solved 😮.

Try deleting your exchange account the re-defining.
Try what work-arounds you can. Use dropbox. For pdf, try goodread with dropbox.

Hello I was having the same problems when trying to open PPT or PPTX files from iOS Mail. Just find out that all my email messages where plain text, and this problem occur, when I did choose to transfer the whole email I was able to open the PPT or PPTX in Keynote.
