Restored apple tv, but still not working

Restored apple tv 3rd gen.; tv screen now displays USB cord and itune symbol. Is not responding to remote, but remote works (just disabled it from controling macbook. Have tried pairing remote by holding Menu and Up on remote simultaneously, but nothing. Any ideas, please?

MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011)

The device is in recovery mode, connect it via a microUSB cable to a computer running iTunes and restore it.

Either it did not restore properly or failed to restore.

Try restoring again. If it still does not work, take the device to Apple.
