Pitch bending question

I have to gradually increase the pitch of a track in garageband v10.
I searched in the help of garageband, and I found two solutions which, however, did not meet my needs.
The first suggested to use the automation parameter "pitch mod" which, however, can increase the pitch of the track only a few semitones;
the second suggested to use the audio unit "AUpitch" but only allows you to manually change the pitch of the track, without being able to automatically and gradually increase it.
Searching on google I found out that in earlier versions of garageband, it was possible to automate the "AUpitch" using the control "add automation" but that is no longer available in the new version of garageband.
The effect I'm looking for is the one used in this video at 2:05:

Thank you all.

I know I'm a bit late to answer this question, but I figured out how to do automated pitch bend using AUPitch in the most recent version of Garageband! Here's what you have to do:

1. Go to the EQ settings of the selected instrument (the button to the left of the scissors in the top-left)

2. In the Plug-Ins section, click on an empty slot and choose Audio Units -> Apple -> AUPitch

3. Show automation, then click on the drop-down menu for the selected instrument. From the bottom of the list, choose AUPitch -> Pitch

4. You should now be able to automate pitch bends for that instrument.

5. Enjoy! Hope this helps the original asker and anyone who stumbles across this thread in the future.

With GarageBand 10 deleting the preferences file alone may not suffice. The preferences may be cached. Try to delete these files as well after quitting GarageBand:

~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/

~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.garageband.plist

~/Library/Caches/garageband

And restart the system after deleting these files, otherwise the old versions might be resumed from the caches.

And what about isteveus' other suggestion?

You may want to see if this happens when using garageband in a different user account.

That is an important test, that will show us, if your problem is system wide or caused by settings in your user account.

If you cannot get the automation to work in a new user account with a new project, we'll know that the setting in your current user account are not the problem.

Have you tried to create a new project for testing?

Then you may have a problem with the system. Have you installed any other music or audio software, that could prevent your core audio library from working correctly? Software for audio interfaces, plug-ins, etc? The audio filters are used by many applications and are part of the system and not of GarageBand.

If you are using any software, that may not be compatible with Mavericks, check with the manufacturers for compatibility and update, if necessary. When in doubt, uninstall.

If all fails, reinstall MacOS, to restore the core audio units.

You can reinstall Mavericks on top of the current system, by booting into recovery, see:
