How do you purchase a movie or gift card (from Macbook) and have it emailed to somone?

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Thanks for responding, unfortunately, iTunes does not show the Send Gift option at the bottom of the screen. The screenshots seem to be from an app rather than the iTunes program (Ver. 11.1.5) on the Macbook running Mavericks.

You need to read the entire article. There's a section specifically titled "Gift an item on a Mac or PC".
