Q: Why can't I upgrade to mavericks when I have 10.6.8?

I have OS X 10.6.8 on my macbook Pro but I cannot install Mavericks.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

    Do you mind posting the specs of your computer to verify that the unit does meet specs per the HT5842 article.

     

    Once that is verified, could you tell us what happens when you do try updating to Mavericks. Does it not show up in the App Store, or do you get an error or what?

    Does your MBP meet all the requirements?

     

    • MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    • MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)

     

    Your Mac also needs:

    • OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
    • 2 GB or more of memory
    • 8 GB or more of available space
