Mail - Difference between Trash & Archive ?

Can someone poin tme to a description of what the difference is between Archive and Trash and how to manage them?

Also what happens when you click the Message > Archive?

Trash is for things you want to delete.

Archive is for things you want to keep.

It should move them into an Archive folder.

If this is Gmail, it just removes the current label leaving the All Mail label.
