    Because something is wrong.

     

    To identify and correct the problem, start with the Help menu command for the software application that you are trying to use to create the video chat.

    If everything but the camera works properly, troubleshoot the camera with http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090.

     

    If you post back for more help, tell us:

     

    (1) which Mac OS ( < About this Mac) you use. 

     

    (2) Also, tell us which specific application software version you are using.  You can find the software application version information by using the "About application name" menu command once you launch the application.  For example: if you launch FaceTime, use the FaceTime > About FaceTime menu command to see the Version info that appears in the dialog window that opens.  If you are using more than one software application, give version information for each of them.
