Apr 26, 2014 3:08 AM in response to cathyharmanby jmfromBel,What's your problem ? Just open the Airport utility and click on your airport express. Then you'll see "wireless" and will be able to extend ypur network.

Apr 26, 2014 5:32 AM in response to cathyharmanby Bob Timmons,I am trying to extend my existing wifi coverage at home
The AirPort Express will only "extend" the wireless signal when it is used with another Apple router.
Is your main router an Apple device? If yes, which model do you have?
Are you trying to configure the Express with a Mac computer? iPhone/iPad?

Apr 26, 2014 9:27 AM in response to Bob Timmonsby nychuck,When you state the Airport Express will only "extend" the wireless signal, you don't mean , for example, that the additional Ethernet LAN Port(s) or USB port, on the Airport Express, are not functional when used as an extender?

Aug 24, 2016 5:30 PM in response to cheryllynnintlby mmk3x3,Hi Cheryllynnintl -- having the same problem as you, did you ever find out where to get the security key?
Thanking you in advance for you time and help!

Aug 24, 2016 5:54 PM in response to mmk3x3by Bob Timmons,The security "key" is not likely to help you......since it is a complex code 64 characters in length. Very few devices will allow this many characters to be entered, but I suppose that anything is possible. Most manufacturers mean "password" when they use the term "key".
If you want to see the "key", and assuming that you have a Mac and an Apple router.......
Open AirPort Utility (Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)
Click on the picture of the Apple router
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Base Station menu.....located up where you see the other menus like File, Window, Help, etc.
Click Show Passwords, and your "key" will be revealed

Aug 24, 2016 7:49 PM in response to cathyharmanby konagal,Open Airport Utilities and make sure the old or new extender is not there yet
1. Make sure your network has wifi turned ON
2. "Forget" the extender if it asks
3. Plug in extender near the base station and place a paperclip into the SMALL indented push button on the back until the yellow light begins to blink very quickly
4. Go back to Airport Utilites and in the upper left corner is a rectangular box saying Other Wifi Devices. There should be a (1) in the box if it picked up the extender.
5. Open the Other Wifi Devices box by clicking on it and then click on the extender displayed.
6. Wait for the new device to be detected and set up. Rename it if needed.
7. Under lower left corner select that and click on Add to existing network if that is the case.
8. Add it to the base station you have already set up.
