Q: why the **** does airplay not work on any of my devices? Also why does apple support still not have a resolved issue for this topic?

I have a late 2011 Macbook pro, the latest Ipod touch and also an Iphone 5, None of these devices for some reason no longer have the Airplay icon. I have apple tv which is before anyone asks conneceted to the same network as all my devices, has Airplay enabled on it, is up to date and so are all my other devices. Any genuine help would be appriciated, please dont just link apples " http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4437?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US " or  " http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4215 " as i have followed all of their steps to the letter and they have got myself nowhere! The fact i see similar post dating right back to 2012 with no resoultion is slightly worrying and upsetting that apple have not dealt with this issue!
