I can`t log into itunes on my laptop. Please help.

I have been trying to use itunes on my laptop and I can`t log into it. It tells me to enter my apple id, so I did just that. Itunes then tells me that there is a problem. I double and triple checked to see if i had entered my apple id correctly, however it won`t even let me use itunes at all.
