Q: How do I transfer my address book to my iPod Touch?

I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.5 and I want to import to my iPod touch running iOS 6.1.6 my address book I have on my MacBook Pro.  Do I need an app on my iPod touch to enable this transfer?  If so, what app do you recommend?  I've done a sync, but the address book did not transfer even though I selected all contacts.
