The App Cannot Be Found error

Hi gang; when I try to open anyhting by double clicking, I get the "Application cannot be found" error & also when i try to drag items to the Dock. If I open the App first, then Open the document, it works.

Also, there is now no preview for any if my files in the Finder. its just a blank white icon.

Any help? A way to reset?

Anything to do with the latest update? (Security Update 2014-002)?

thanks!

Hello K Pearson,

It sounds as though your documents may be attempting to use a missing or old version of the desired application. The following article details how to change the application used to open a document. Once selecting the correct application for a document type, you can click 'Change All...' to apply this change to all documents of the same type.

the solve here worked for me: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5848683

When you mount server with the Connect to Server command in the Finder's Go menu, use not smb, but cifs, as follows:

cifs://server_name_or_ip_address

Then everything gets back to normal.

Mavericks uses SMB2 by default and doesn't switch to SMB1 or AFP if server doesn't support SMB2
