Apr 26, 2014 9:39 AM in response to Sabine-1by Niel,Use a FireWire/Thunderbolt connection, or an Ethernet cable, or wireless. If you connect them via a network, start File Sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences on one computer and use the Connect to Server command in the Finder's Go menu on the other. If you use Target Disk mode, start up one computer with the T key held down.

Apr 26, 2014 9:48 AM in response to Sabine-1by Grant Bennet-Alder,If each computer can get on the Internet without changing cables, you already have the infrastructure in place for File Sharing.
Sharing is enabled through the File Sharing pane of
System Preference > Sharing
If you share a lot of large files, you may prefer to wire them with a Gigabit Ethernet Switch, to get "near Hard Drive" speeds.
Remember that in Mac parlance "Sharing" means making available (for others to "just use"). So you enable Sharing on the computer that holds the documents to be Shared.
